Eight of those numerously constructed wood churches of the Maramures area have been declared world cultural heritage by the UNESCO and are being conserved and protected in a special way. They offer an impressive view for tourists from all over the world. Another attractive and frequently visited travel destination is the water valley with its amazing water valley railway.
